Meeting with the “Study Abroad Advisor”

The Counselor

Liz Allred is one of those people that has been there and done and loved it for everything. I met with her on Friday and got a better idea of what I’m heading into. The first criteria was to have grants and scholarships apply to help me pay. With that being said, I basically have two options.

SEED

SEED is an international small business program. Pretty much you go to either Africa or Peru and work with small business to make viable loans. So for example. I go to Peru. Meet with people who have a business idea. I help them and educate them on the finances and determine if it’s viable. If it is, a company out of Europe make a small loan to them and help them get their business off the ground in a consultation role. I get to run the numbers and see where we end up, help make important business decisions, and basically teach them how to keep it going.

The best part about this is that it’s a paid internship. If I went, it would Fall 2012. That’s experience most people only dream of before graduation. I’m meeting with the SEED Counselor tomorrow to find more information.

Study Abroad

I’m also meeting with Finance advisors to plan courses and the financial aid office to determine the best way to go about using funds tomorrow. In a nut shell here is what I learned, all put into a nice pretty word doc.

Summer 2011 Study Abroad

Wish me luck;)
