Utah Mountains
I live in Utah, surrounded by, arguably, some of the most beautiful country God ever made. I’ve grown to love the mountains. I think the only thing that could compare to mountains is the ocean or lake. To one up it, you would have to put the mountains by the ocean. Combine that with perfect weather and that is probably why it cost so much to live in SoCal. If you want to one up that, throw a deep, dark, billowing thunderstorm in the mix.
Storm
A rare occurrence happened today in Utah. A thunderstorm. I happen to be sitting in a park under a pavilion watching it unfold. In front of me were the mountains. The sun was just starting to set. I wish i could have gotten a picture of it . Haloing (if that’s even a word) the mountains was this beautiful ring of the most amazing pink, purple, blues, and black that you’ve ever seen. It looked to be straight out of national geographic. Behind the mountain was the storm rolling in. The lighting danced just over the ridges. Behind the beauty raged a storm. You could literally see the clouds building up behind the mountain, is if the mountain was doing everything in its power to keep back the darkness. And then the inevitable happened.
Like a flood, the storm spilled over the top, raging into the valley below. Cracking thunder and an the almost deafening pound of rain drops sent everyone running for cover.
A few minutes into the storm, I looked across the park and saw 3 women with a baby stroller frantically trying to hide under one of the smallest trees in the park.
Lesson Learned
You may already see where I’m going with this, but I’m going to give a shot at explaining it anyway.
People work hard to build mountains of protection in their lives. Spiritually, emotionally, educationally, and financially, all to hold back the storm. When something hard comes up, we put our heads down and go to work because we know that the protection it will provide will be worth the effort. Years of saving, studying, and work provide the comfort of peace of mind.
However, with that being said, eventually, a storm will still hit. The darkness rages into our lives and we are absolutely helpless to stop it. No amount of pleading, bargains, whining, or threats will stop it.
And when they do, some of us are in the worst position possible, like the 3 women. Some of us, sit and just accept it, taking it in as is. Others run to get out of it.
Lesson learned? Stuff happens.
Dale out.
P.S. If your wondering, yes, I did give them a ride home. ;)
You left someone out of that storm...those that hit it head on. Knowing that they are stronger and can beat it. They put their shoulder to the wheel and push forward. Which one are you? I believe that you are this person, when life gives you lemons you make lemonaid...so keep pushing and enjoy the journey...and so proud you help the 3 ladies out, what a gentleman..8-)
