Quiet Moments

I have a new calling at church and it is a beast. I’m the Executive Ward Secretary. More or less, I handle all the appointments for the Bishopric, follow up on callings and assignments, and pretty much anything else the Bishop needs me to handle. This is a pretty intense job in a regular ward, but throw it into a BYU student singles ward and you get something similar to a cross-eyed air traffic controller during rush hour.  Put that on top of college and work and you start to get an idea of what happens everyday. Yet here I am writing a blog;)

Now, I don't consider myself to be special. I know people who are much busier than I am. But it is still nice to have quiet moments.

at the lake 416SOME PLACES

help me focus. These are the places where I like to go when no one else is around. For example, at the lake, their is a point, and out on that point, the sun dances. Every morning and every evening, the water slicks off, the air cools down, and the sun dances in a beautiful bright line that stretches from where you are across the lake as far as the eye can see. Something just feel rights when your there, like times stands still and suddenly I can see the bigger picture of what's going on. I feel connected to the past, present, and future. Memories flood black to solve pressing issues of the day. 2372300250_28d6d405bb

An empty chapel, old high school gym, or even just a picture of a place with a lot of memories. The picture to the right is of the bell tower at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. It’s where I went to EFY for 5 summers in a row.

Nature does the same thing. I took the pictures below last week on a hike that we did. Being outside, puts me in awe and wonder at God’s creations.

If anyone actually reads this, feel free to add your own ‘personal happy place’ ;)

Dale out.
